AMT outdid themselves with this superb vinyl kit. Although not totally accurate it's shear size makes up for it, and there is still plenty of great detail to admire. With all that beautiful wrinkly flesh and the crusty armour down the rancor's back this monster was terrific fun to paint. And, for once, the seams were very easy to work as the putty just needed to look like another wrinkle.
Apparently the hero puppet used in the movie had ball bearings inserted into the eye sockets to add "life" to the creature. I tried to simulate this by painting the eyeballs chrome silver, but I didn't feel it looked right so settled for gloss black instead.
