"What a hunk of junk!" A popular kit of a very popular subject, MPC's Millennium Falcon was only my second ever Star Wars model I patched together some twenty odd years ago. And as badly put together as it was it still remains the pride and joy of my collection. Everybody loves the Falcon! Me included. The proof being that it is the only ship in my collection I have three of!
Typically, nothing works now, but I originally rigged a 150mm fluorescent tube to a 9-volt battery to light the engine. And it looked very cool! Being my first foray into lighting model kits I was very proud of my efforts here, even making a secret switch out of the rotating antennae dish.
Painted in my standard issue "Star Wars tint" (Humbrol's Camouflage Grey), then weathered completely by hand as this was my pre-airbrush days.

Model enthusiasts over the years have likened the oversized profile of this kit to a clunky Kenner toy. In reality those side panels would only need about 3mm shaved off their height to make them more proportionally correct. I believe there are after-market resin kits still available to do this job.
